Julia P. Rajagopalan is a practicing witch, certified nutrition coach, and creator of the Healthy Witch Wellness
As a long time yogi, I have a passion for health and wellness. While living in India, I completed yoga teacher training in vinyasa and yin yoga, and I am a certified nutrition coach. Also, as someone in recovery, wellness is more than a word to me. I’ve been sober for almost three years now, and I know that staying sober is easier when I’m making healthy choices all around. When I’m eating right and getting exercise, I feel happier and better. When I’m getting enough sleep, I am less angry and frustrated, and that definitely makes it easier to stay sober. I got sober by going to meetings like SMART Recovery and secular AA, but I stay sober by staying healthy and committing to my healthy choices.
Falling into unhealthy habits and patterns has real consequences for my sobriety and my mental health. In my wellness journey, I’ve studied many different health programs and theories, and I wanted to share what I’ve learned along the way. I wanted to share what has worked for me and how it can help others in their wellness journeys.
Wellness can mean something different to everyone; for some people, it may mean losing weight. For others, it’s exercising more, and for others, it's just making healthier choices. As always, people should consult their trusted healthcare professional before making any major health changes.
For me, wellness means making healthy choices about what I eat and the exercise I get. It's about mindfulness and mindset and doing the best with what I have.
